January 31st, 2021 was a Sunday. My wife and I were headed, with our 3-year-old daughter in tow, to a friend’s wedding just outside of town.
After finally finding something buried in my closet to wear that fit, we were ready to leave.
My wife wanted to get a family picture before we left for the wedding. I begrudgingly obliged.
So, with terrible lighting and a makeshift tri-pod, we snapped the picture you see on this page.
Without even a glance at the picture, we rushed out the door to the wedding already behind on time due to my lack of wardrobe.
As is often the case, there was cake, cookies, truckloads of food, sugar-soaked sweet tea and soda. I was in a proverbial fat man's dream. My favorite foods were all within reach under the roof of a "sugar castle of sweetness" that donned the festivities of the ceremony we had just bore witness.
After a wonderful ceremony, some great food and a tuckered-out 3-year-old, it was time to head home.
My wife elected to drive home so I could get caught up on some work and respond to a few emails. As we drove down these dark country roads in Southeast Georgia back to our home in Northeast Florida, the shuttered illumination in our Toyota Highlander of each passing street light created an almost therapeutic ambience that only heightened my sensitivity of what soon followed. It was something that changed my life and it happened in a single moment while driving down South Georgia roads...
I flipped through the pictures on my phone and saw the photos from the night, including the one rushed photo we took prior to leaving for the wedding. I stopped flipping and stared. I stared for a long long long time. I felt frozen in disbelief. I could not believe I was looking at a picture of me. I turned to hundreds of other photos my wife had taken of us. I went back 1 year, 2 years, 7 years and even 10 years back. The picture was the same story.
In that car ride down a dark country road, I made the decision it was time to change. Nothing would stop me. Little did I know what would come of it.
For over 10 years I packed on weight, tried to lose it, gained more, lost a little and gave up each time. I had not allowed photos to be taken of myself because I was ashamed of my weight and who I had become vs. who I was years prior. That night I made an exception for my wife...I'm glad I did.
I had to do something and there was absolutely no choice left but to drop the fat and get healthy. For the sake of my marriage, my daughter, and my health, a lifestyle change was required immediately.
I knew this time had to be different. Simply following a cold-turkey method of weight loss was not going to work for me. I needed to introduce the healthy foods slowly, decrease the calorie count and increase activity-level; I knew that much.
Being an involved husband, father and full-time employee, I had (or thought I had) very little time to get this right. So whatever I did had to be done timely and would have to easily be repeated day in and day out.
After one week of dedicating myself to "getting it right", I found exactly what worked for me and I've never looked back.
By May 30th, 2021, I had lost 60 pounds. I did not suffer a painful, unhealthy, unmanageable diet and I discovered more energy than I remember having at 19 years old.
To Date I've lost a total of 80 pounds.
What I did was NOT a secret diet or some crazy new food group discovered in the Amazon Rain forest. It was simple and obvious...
If you'd like to learn what I did, and will truly try to apply the methods taught, I'd love for you to subscribe and start making that change today.
Losing weight is hard, living overweight is harder; choose your "hard"...
